چکیده
In situ monitoring of the melt pools in laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) has enabled elucidation process phenomena. There been an increasing interest also using pool to identify anomalies and control quality manufactured parts. However, a better understanding variability relation incidence internal flaws are necessary achieve this goal. This study aims link distributions dimensions signal characteristics obtained from monitoring. A mapping approach is employed manufacturing Hastelloy X, comprising vast portion space. Ex measurements analysis correlated through visible near-infrared spectra. It found that related presence flaws, but scatter not detectable by system study. The intensities proportional dimensions, increasingly dynamic following conditions increase generation spatter.

متن کاملOnline Melt Pool Temperature Control for Laser Metal Deposition Processes
Melt pool temperature is of great importance to deposition quality in Laser Metal Deposition processes. To control the melt pool temperature, an empirical process model describing the relationship between the temperature and process parameters (i.e., laser power, powder flow rate, and traverse speed) is established and verified experimentally. A general tracking controller using the Internal Mo...
متن کاملEffects of Melt Pool Variables and Process Parameters in Laser Direct Metal Deposition of Aerospace Alloys
Despite considerable advances in of laser direct metal deposition (LDMD) process optimization, there is rather limited work reported on the effects of melt pool variables on the final deposit characteristics. This article considers the effects of process parameters and melt pool characteristics on the deposition of Inconel 718 powder on a Ti-6Al-4V thin wall. A 1.5kW diode laser and LDMD system...
متن کاملApproaches for High-Speed Melt Pool Detection in Laser Welding Applications
In this paper several approaches for the detection of the melt pool circle (i.e. its position and radius) in laser welding applications are described. Instead of indirectly examining the evolution of the melt pool via the radiation of plasma that is generated during the welding process, we use a direct view onto the melt pool that is possible in a narrow wavelength band with a coaxial aligned h...
متن کاملStudy and Modelling of the Melt Pool Dynamics during Selective Laser Sintering and Melting
Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) and Selective Laser Melting (SLM) are parent layer manufacturing processes that allow generating complex 3D parts by consolidating layers of powder material on top of each other. Consolidation is obtained by processing the selected areas using the thermal energy supplied by a focused laser beam. In SLS partial fusion of powder particles takes place, followed by a...
